Dr. Stephen Montgomery

Dr. Stephen (Steve) R. Montgomery is presently leading Idlewild Presbyterian Church as their senior pastor. He has served in that capacity for the last seven years. Before coming to Memphis, he served as both a senior pastor and youth minister at churches in Georgia, Kentucky and Connecticut.  


Rev. Montgomery has given community service and support to Columbia Theological Seminary and LeMoyne Owen College serving on their Board of Trustees.  He further gives guidance to the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) serving on their Board of Directors. He is a 2003 graduate of Leadership Memphis and served as the President of The Memphis Ministers Association in 2004.  


The formal education that he received includes a Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster in Ohio.  


He is the father of two children and the husband of Patti Montgomery.
