What we are learning

Excellence in pastoral ministry is a gift of the healing and sustaining grace of God in the life of the whole person. Through faithful relatedness to God and others, good pastors maintain balance (wholeness) in their lives and ministries.

On May 2nd Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Memphis had an extraordinary one day conference that encouraged and helped pastors to sustain pastoral excellence. At this year’s conference, we dove into “Forgiveness: A Matter of Fact”.  Forgiveness is a gift that benefits the giver as much or more than the receiver.  This conference will outline the good things—emotionally, physically, relationally, and spiritually—that come through the power of forgiveness.

Our day will included a lecture and workshop with Dr. David Weaver-Zercher, co-author of Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy. There was a great breakout sessions for SPE participants, spouses and lay leaders.  We wrapped up the day in worship with the guest preacher Dr. Stacy Spencer, Senior Pastor of New Direction Christian Church of Memphis, TN.  It’s was a great day so make sure you download the free audio of both guest speakers. You don’t want to miss out!
